I’m a very simple, down to earth mom, wife, and educator!  It’s the simple things in life that make me happy;  long walks along the beach with my love, coffee, and spending time with my Lord studying His word.

Mark and I married almost 34 years ago, December 10, 1983.  We were blessed with two amazing boys; Wayne is 28 years old and lives in Orlando, Florida and Austin is 20 years old and attends the University of North Florida in Jacksonville.

After spending ten years as an insurance representative, I began my teaching career 19 years ago as a third-grade teacher.  I honestly feel it was a calling.  One morning, as I was driving my oldest son to daycare, I drove by an elementary school.  As I drove by, I literally saw myself in front of a classroom teaching students.  The vision was so vivid and seemed so real.  That evening I told my husband about it, about my dreams and desire to teach.  That fall I enrolled in our local community college and began my journey in education.  Now, 19 years later, I am a fourth-grade teacher to some amazing students.

The highlight of my teaching career occurred just two years ago, January 9, 2015, when I was presented with the Milken Educator Award.  I must say, it was a surprise of a lifetime.  I am now connected to amazing educators across the state of Florida AND The United States!

I am also a lifelong learner.  Learning new strategies excites me as I imagine and then realize the possibilities that await my students.  Taking what I have learned and mastered these past several years, I will begin a new adventure for the 2017-2018 school year.  After 15 years working at an A rated, high performing school, I will transfer to a Title 1 school with high needs.  It will be challenging, but oh so rewarding!
